Terms of Service

Short version: Use PromptBud responsibly. We provide the extension as-is. Credits are non-expiring and non-refundable once used. Your data stays yours. If something goes wrong, our liability is limited to what you paid us.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing or using the PromptBud Chrome extension ("Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Service.

2. Description of Service

PromptBud is a Chrome browser extension that helps you write better prompts for AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude) and remembers your preferences across platforms. The Service includes:

Free features: Prompt scoring, missing elements checker, guided builder, templates
Paid features: AI-powered prompt rewriting, deep clarification, response QA, smart follow-ups, portable memory (requires credits or BYOK API key)

3. Accounts and Authentication

Some features require authentication via magic link (passwordless email). You are responsible for maintaining the security of your authentication credentials and for any activity that occurs under your account.

4. Credits and Payments

Credits are sold as one-time purchases and never expire.
Each AI-powered feature consumes a specified number of credits per use.
Credit prices are as listed at the time of purchase.
Refunds: Unused credit packages are eligible for a full refund within 30 days of purchase. Partially used packages are non-refundable. Contact [email protected] for refund requests.
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. PromptBud does not store your payment information.

5. Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)

If you use BYOK mode with your own API key (Anthropic or OpenAI):

You are responsible for all API charges incurred through your key.
Your API key is stored locally in your browser extension storage.
PromptBud is not responsible for any costs, rate limits, or account actions related to your API key usage.
You must comply with the terms of service of your API provider.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the Service
Abuse the API by sending excessive automated requests
Attempt to circumvent credit requirements or rate limits
Share or resell your account credentials

7. Intellectual Property

PromptBud and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by PromptBud and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. The prompts you write and the AI responses you receive remain yours.

8. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. We do not track you, we do not sell your data, and we do not require accounts for free features.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that:

The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
AI-improved prompts will produce specific results
The response QA feature will catch all errors or inaccuracies

PromptBud is a productivity tool, not a substitute for professional judgment. Domain modes (Legal, Medical, Education) provide general guidance only and do not constitute professional advice.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PromptBud shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues. Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension. Unused credits remain in your account unless we terminate for abuse, in which case we may issue a refund at our discretion.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through the extension or via email (if you have an account). Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
